๐Ÿ“Œ MAROKO133 Update ai: As Epstein Scandal Tightens, Trump Announces That Heโ€™s Rele

President Donald Trump has plenty of work to do to distract from a growing list of crises, from the release of the Epstein files, many of which have implicated him, to a brewing battle with the Supreme Court, which just declared his tariffs illegal.

Now, Trump has found the next carrot to dangle: aliens.

In a Thursday evening post on Truth Social, Trump said that based “on the tremendous interest shown, I will be directing the Secretary of War, and other relevant Departments and Agencies, to begin the process of identifying and releasing Government files related to alien and extraterrestrial life, unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP), and unidentified flying objects (UFOs).” (What the difference between UAPs and UFOs is unclear, as the former term has conventionally been used by government officials to refer to the latter.)

Naturally, the surprising announcement โ€” which likely caught many government officials off guard โ€” was accompanied by Trump taking potshots at his predecessor, accusing former president Barack Obama of revealing “classified” information, referencing Obama’s claim that aliens “are real” during a podcast appearance last week.

When asked by YouTuber Bryan Tyler Cohen if aliens are indeed real during a “lightning round” segment, Obama demurred.

“They’re real, but I haven’t seen them. And they’re not being kept in โ€” what is it? โ€” Area 51.”

“There’s no underground facility unless there’s this enormous conspiracy and they hid it from the president of the United States,” he added.

Days later, Obama further clarified in an NBC News interview that he had seen “no evidence” of aliens, suggesting Trump may have woefully misinterpreted his remarks.

Whether anything will come of Trump’s theatrical promise to direct his agencies to release files on “alien and extraterrestrial life” remains uncertain as ever. The topic of UAPs has gotten plenty of media attention in the last couple of years, culminating in several releases of UFO documents throughout the Biden administration. One hotly anticipated declassified report, which was released in June 2021, turned out to be largely disappointing, further underlining that the US government still has no idea what had caused several high-profile UAP sightings, which were revealed in 2017 in an exposรฉ by the New York Times.

The Pentagon has also been trickling out documents acknowledging its interest in these sightings for many years now.

In short, it remains entirely unclear what other documents government agencies may still be holding on to or whether we’ll actually learn anything new.

What’s far more likely is that Trump continues to desperately try to control the narrative โ€” as even Republicans are getting tired of his antics.

“Theyโ€™ve deployed the ultimate weapon of mass distraction, but the Epstein files arenโ€™t going away… even for aliens,” representative Thomas Massie (R-KY) tweeted.

๐Ÿ“Œ MAROKO133 Hot ai: OpenAI Flagged a Mass Shooterโ€™s Troubling Conversations With C

A grim scoop from the Wall Street Journal: an automated review system at OpenAI flagged disturbing conversations that a future mass shooter was having with the company’s flagship AI ChatGPT โ€” but, despite being urged by employees at the company to warn law enforcement, OpenAI leadership opted not to.

The 18-year-old Jesse Van Rootselaar ultimately killed eight people including herself and injured 25 more in British Columbia earlier this month, in a tragedy that shook Canada and the world. What we didn’t know until today is that employees at OpenAI had already been aware of Van Rootselaar for months, and had debated alerting authorities because of the alarming nature of her conversations with ChatGPT.

In the conversations with OpenAI’s chatbot, according to sources at the company who spoke to the WSJ, Van Rootselaar “described scenarios involving gun violence.” The sources say they recommended that the company warn authorities local authorities, but that leadership at the company decided against it.

An OpenAI spokesperson didn’t dispute those claims, telling the newspaper that it banned Van Rootselaar’s account, but decided that her interactions with ChatGPT didn’t meet its internal criteria for escalating a concern with a user to police.

“Our thoughts are with everyone affected by the Tumbler Ridge tragedy,” the company said in a statement to the paper. The spokesperson also said that the company had reached out to assist Canadian police after the shooting took place.

We’ve known since last year that OpenAI is scanning users’ conversations for signs that they’re planning a violent crime, though it’s not clear whether it’s yet successfully headed off an incident before it happened.

Its decision to engage in that monitoring in the first place reflects an increasingly long list of incidents in which ChatGPT users have fallen into severe mental health crises after becoming obsessed with the bot, sometimes resulting in involuntary commitment or jail โ€” as well as a growing number of suicides and murders, leading to numerous lawsuits.

In a sense, questions of how to deal with threatening online conduct is a longstanding question that every social platform has grappled with. But AI brings difficult new questions to the topic, since chatbots can engage with users directly โ€” sometimes even encouraging bad bad behavior or otherwise behaving inappropriately.

Like many mass shooters, Van Rootselaar left behind a complicated digital legacy โ€” including on Roblox โ€” that investigators are still wading through.
